We are partnering with a well funded, fast growth start up in Legal Tech / Automation, powered by AI, to make a move to a Legal Engineer role.

Work hybrid in great office Circular Quay or may consider remote. The role comes with lawyer level salary, bonus and share options post probation.

This new to market platform automates banking and finance workflows for law firms acting for borrowers. Now they are building the lender side — purpose-built for law firms and in-house teams acting for banks, non-bank lenders, private credit funds, and development financiers.

We need someone who has sat on the lender side of these transactions and understands the security documentation, conditions precedent, covenant monitoring, and settlement coordination from that perspective.

You will define the workflows, compliance rules, and document logic that power lender-side automation into the platform. You will work directly with their development team and GTM team to build and sell a product that lender-side practitioners actually want to use.

About the Role

• Define lender-side workflows for facility agreements, security documentation, conditions precedent, drawdown processes, covenant monitoring, and settlement coordination

• Map the documentation lifecycle from term sheet through to facility agreement execution, security perfection, and post-settlement compliance

• Design automation rules for conditions precedent tracking, security registration (PPSR, Land Registry), and covenant monitoring

• Work with the development team to translate lending processes into product features, data models, and automation logic

• Design templates for facility agreements, security documents, compliance certificates, and lender correspondence

• Identify where lender-side teams waste the most time — syndicated facilities, multi-tranche documentation, security perfection — and prioritise those for automation

• Support the GTM team with domain expertise for lender-side sales conversations, demos, and client onboarding

• Validate product features with practising banking & finance lawyers acting for lenders

About You

• 6+ years of experience in banking & finance law acting for lenders (banks, non-bank lenders, private credit, or development finance)

• Deep understanding of facility agreements, general security agreements, real property security, PPSR registration, and conditions precedent workflows

• Experience with syndicated lending, multi-tranche facilities, or development finance (at least one)

• Ability to articulate complex transaction workflows as structured, step-by-step processes

• Strong attention to detail — lender documentation has no margin for error

• Genuine interest in technology and willingness to learn how software is built

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Nice to Have

• Experience acting for non-bank lenders or private credit funds (not just Big 4 banks)

• Exposure to loan management or portfolio monitoring (post-settlement)

• Understanding of regulatory requirements for lenders (APRA, ASIC, AML/CTF)

• Experience with security enforcement, workout, or restructuring

• Familiarity with legal technology products or practice management systems
