We are partnering with a well funded, fast growth start up with an incredible automation platform, powered by AI. This software platform is easily customisable with accuracy and superfast turnaround, so can be adapted to any law firm's or in house team's internal processes with expedience.
The team are seeking a Corporate M&A Lawyer to join as a Legal Engineer. The primary objective is to make AI accessible for legal professionals. This involves closely observing client workflows and adapting technology to fit with the Legal Engineer working as a bridge between users and product teams.
The role requires a deep understanding of legal practice in M&A and a focus on identifying and eliminating inefficiencies. As the inaugural Legal Engineer, you will be the Product Specialist/ SME in M&A.

We need someone who has run M&A transactions as a practitioner and wants to turn that expertise into software. You will define the workflows, checklists, condition tracking, and document logic that power M&A automation. You will work with the development team to build features, and with our GTM team to ensure the product resonates with corporate and M&A teams at Australian law firms.
About the Role
Define end-to-end M&A transaction workflows: engagement, due diligence, SPA/APA negotiation, conditions precedent, completion, and post-completion
Map condition precedent and condition subsequent tracking, including regulatory approvals (FIRB, ACCC, ASX), third-party consents, and completion deliverables
Design automation rules for due diligence management, document request lists, data room coordination, and checklist tracking
Work with the development team to translate M&A processes into product features, data models, and automation logic
Design templates for SPAs, disclosure letters, completion checklists, and ancillary documents
Identify where M&A teams waste the most time — CP tracking, completion mechanics, post-completion undertakings — and prioritise for automation
Support the GTM team with domain expertise for M&A-focused sales conversations, demos, and client onboarding
Validate product features with practising corporate/M&A lawyers
